Top wrench competition        ~ 26 years ~

What We Do

Top Wrench is a drug-free vocational program developed for high school students as an introduction to racing and team building as they prepare for careers in automotive and marine fields. Top Wrench competitions are held yearly in Knoxville, TN at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base.  In Spring of 2017, we held our 26th competition with over 500 students from 12 East Tennessee high schools competing. This program is funded by Top Wrench, area business sponsors and the East TN Foundation. We partner with Lincoln Tech and Tennessee College of Applied Technology to offer scholarships to students, as well.

Our Top Wrench Gear Head Challenge high school drag racing program now involves 5 East Tennessee counties with 8 schools participating in drag races at local tracks. All cars are built and maintained by students in school shops as part of their curriculum.
